How To Eat Healthy At Wendy's

Eating heathy at Wendy's is not an easy task but if you study the menu carefully you can find some healthy fast food items.

Wendy’s, like most fast food restaurants, has quite a few unhealthy items on their menu. Their triple meat hamburger is one of the highest calorie burgers that you will find on the market. In spite of the large number of items loaded with calories and fat, you will also find some items that can help you avoid putting on those extra pounds.

Wendy’s has a wide variety of items on the menu. The burgers are quite high in fat content and can cause problems for anyone’s diet. The simple ¼ lb. single has 580 calories, 33g of fat, and 1240mg of sodium. If you absolutely must have a burger, go with the Jr Hamburger. It only has 250 calories. A Jr Hamburger won’t fill you up, but you can add a healthy side to go with it.

Chicken is usually a healthy alternative to burgers, but at Wendy’s you have to be careful. The Asiago Ranch Chicken Club has a whopping 690 calories, 36g of fat, and 1630mg of sodium. Chicken sandwiches are something that should be avoided at this restaurant. All of the ones at Wendy’s have at least 20g of fat. The Grilled Chicken Go Wrap is the best choice in this category with only 260 calories, 10g of fat, and 730mg of sodium.

If you want to add a salad to your meal, stay away from the specialty salads. The Baja Salad has 730 calories, 47g of fat, and 1970mg of sodium. The Apple Pecan Chicken Salad is not much better with 1540m of sodium. The only salad you should add to your meal is the Garden Salad. If you don’t put dressing on it, it has 210 calories, 3g of fat, and only 210mg of sodium. If you put Ranch dressing on the salad, it will add more fat than a side of French fries.

If you are looking for a side to add to your meal, then skip the fries. French fries are high in fat and loaded with sodium. A large side of fries has 25g of fat and 570mg of sodium. Even the value size fries have 11g of fat The Sour Cream And Chive Potato would be a wise choice with only 3.5g of fat and 50mg of sodium. A 5-piece order of chicken nuggets only has 220 calories but it does contain 14g of fat. A small chili has a respectable 210 calories and 6.g of fat, but the sodium content is a staggering 880mg.

When it comes to eating healthy at Wendy’s, there are plenty of pitfalls to avoid. Stay away from the larger burgers and pass up the specialty salads. Eat the foods without sauces, cheese, and bacon and you should be able to stay reasonably close to a healthy diet.
